My House Tour, Part Five

Now that I have my fabulous bookshelves, I feel like my family/living room is finally decorated! We have some minor plans to change a few things, maybe add a bit more seating or a small desk (or, if you ask my husband, a large aquarium). But for now, I'm pleased as punch with how it looks. Here are the horrid before shots:

And after.

Chairs in piano room and sectional from Bassett Furniture Direct. ~Cane plantation chair: Wisteria ~End table: Target ~Candlesticks: Anthropologie ~Reading lamp: Ikea ~Coffee Table: Pier One ~Drapes: Overstock.com

~Mirrored end table: Target ~Lanterns by fireplace: Sundance Catalog ~Mirror on mantel: Wisteria ~Fireplace Tools: Ballard Designs ~Topiaries: Sam Moon Home Store

~Wax-set botanicals: Alice Lane Home ~Pillows on foreground chair: Ruby+Stella

~Mirror: Wisteria ~Little House: Alice Lane Home ~Demilune table: unfinished furniture store in Houston, TX

I had a carpenter friend build the bookshelves. I knew the design/size I wanted, but was unsure about the color. I posted a bunch of paint chips to the wall (familiar task), and finally pretty much just grabbed one and handed it to him. I love how it turned out, the shelves are exactly what I had pictured!

i love your bookcase - i've copied and pasted it into my files for "someday" - you've inspired me to think outside the black/brown/white box for bookcase coloring...
where did you find that cunning little house on your entry way table?

Thanks everyone for the compliments! The bookcase color is Behr Dusty Mountain, the mirror is from Wisteria, and the wee little french house is from Alice Lane Home. :)

I have come across your blog and am inspired! We are building a home right now so you have given me many ideas. May I ask what color paint you used in your family room? I am stuck on picking out paint colors right now.

Leslie said...

Hi Jodi,
The paint color in the main room is Behr Smooth Stone (Home Depot). We chose Benjamin Moore Pale Oak for the hallways and bedrooms. Glad you like it!

What a gorgeous home!! You are very talented! Would you mind sharing the details on your rug. It looks for warm and fluffy, I'd love to find one for my family room! Thanks!

Meg and Jennifer,

I had the rug cut and bound from a carpet store. It is about 10x13 and was the cheapest way to go.

thanks!

Hello! My friend told me about your blog and I absolutely love what you've done with your home! We are about to build a bookcase and I love yours! Would you be willing to tell me the measurements? The width of the center and two side pieces in particular? We would love to build something similar to this. Thanks so much! My e-mail is brittaniewest at gmail dot com.
