Necklace Storage

I've run into a little problem with my jewelry box. It's not big enough to fit a few of the cheap-o beaded necklaces I've picked up at Forever 21 in the past few months. I'm thinking of doing something like this. It would be especially rewarding if all the knobs I used were pretty, like these at Anthropologie. How do you store your chunky necklaces?

current jewelry box, from that little boutique I like to call Ross

They're not all cheap-o forever 21 pieces. That last jade one I scored at the BYU Museum of Art store for like $8 after the Imperial Tombs of China exhibit. Like 10 years ago. I'm old. :(

LOVE those chunky necklaces - espeically the green beady one three from the left. I have the same problem with necklace storage. I have a little plastic container with like 18 little sectioned walls for my smallish ones (like the locket you gave me) but the bigger ones are always a problem - I found a solution (inspiration from Annie Rigby) like the Anthropologie one you pictured - shaddow boxes to hang in my boudoir/closet I'll have eventually - just need more closet space to display/store them, right? :D I love the little black closet one you got at Ross - if you EVER see another one like it, go ahead and pick it up for me - just put it on my tab.

What a great idea. Why keep them hidden away in a box? I think my necklace collection just might be pretty enough to display.

I just stumbled on your blog from apartmenttherapy. Ijust wanted to say that I still have some stuff that I scored from the very same sale at the BYU museum. They must have way overstocked!

so did you ever make these? I've been wanting to for a while, and I think I'm going to take the plunge. I'll let you know how things turn out.

Hi, I love your idea for hanging necklaces. Lia Sophia jewelry is the craze in our corner of Montana right now. I have gone a little necklace crazy lately. What are the glass like nobs the necklaces are hanging from, and is there cork or something inside the frame?

Love this idea for organizing your necklaces! I also have a fun, chunky colleciton of necklaces, however, they are hanging along side my colleciton of belts. Maybe it's time to find them a new home!

Did you ever end up doing this for the necklaces? If so, how did it work out? I was thinking of doing something similar but with a peg board that I might cover in fabric (or paint...hmm).
